Our take on Block Zero
Reviewed by the LetsPlayFree editors ·
Block Zero is a third-person action game in a large low-poly city. You play a blocky mutant created by an outbreak, and movement is the highlight: run into a building to climb its wall, hold jump to glide over streets, dash in mid-air and land where you choose.
The first mission teaches every move as you go, starting with a leap from a rooftop into a crowd of infected. Fighting uses borrowed mauls and abilities such as absorbing and throwing a car, so combat is as inventive as traversal. Press Play and you are in the action straight away, with no long setup. It is a good choice if you like parkour-style movement and fast action in a stylized city.
Movement is the real game: running up walls, gliding and dashing in mid-air lets you cross the city in ways that fighting on the ground never could. The first mission teaches every move in turn, so completing it before exploring is a good idea. Fighting is more fun when you use the buildings as your battlefield.
