Alien Quarantine drops you into a top-down shooter spread across 20 missions on a research station overrun by alien life. Each level has three escalating waves and ends with a larger boss, and the alien types and visuals change from sector to sector, so the later missions do not look like the early ones.

There is more to do than shooting. Objectives include restoring power consoles, rescuing crew, recovering samples and securing evacuation routes as you descend deeper into the station. That variety keeps the mission structure from feeling repetitive. Aiming with the mouse and moving with the keyboard is intuitive, and grenades add a useful panic button when the room fills up.

With 20 missions, the game has enough length for several sessions, and the three-wave structure with a boss at the end of each level gives every mission a clear shape. The station objectives, such as restoring power and rescuing crew, mean you cannot simply shoot everything, which keeps the pacing varied. Touch controls are available if a keyboard is not handy.

How to play Alien Quarantine

Move with WASD or the arrow keys and aim with the mouse. Left click fires and right click throws a grenade. Press E to use consoles, collect items and activate exits, and Esc to pause. On a touch screen use the on-screen controls for movement, fire, grenade and interact.

Tips for Alien Quarantine

• Keep moving in circles during waves so enemies cannot corner you.
• Save grenades for bosses or crowds instead of using them on single enemies.
• Complete the station objectives; they are part of the mission, not optional extras.
