Hellgate 1993 is a fast first-person shooter in the style of early 1990s PC games, set inside a dying horror-sci-fi facility. You fight through eight hostile worlds, and each world has three stages: two combat missions and then a boss encounter. Secret routes and sealed sectors reward players who explore instead of running straight for the exit.

It is also more resource-minded than you might expect. You keep track of health, armor, ammo and keys, and unlock stronger weapons as new enemy types arrive. An automap helps you navigate, and doors, switches and terminals add some light puzzling. Mouse look and WASD movement will feel familiar, and there is a mobile layout with a left stick and touch-drag looking.

The automap is a useful tool for finding secret routes, and checking it often saves time in larger levels. Managing health, armor, ammo and keys adds light strategy to the shooting, and the retro look suits players who enjoy classic first-person games. The horror theme is darker than many browser shooters.

How to play Hellgate 1993

Move with WASD, look with the mouse and fire with the left mouse button. Press E to use doors, switches and terminals, 1 to 5 or the mouse wheel to switch weapons, M for the automap, Esc to pause and F for fullscreen. On mobile, use the left stick to move and drag the right side of the screen to look.
