Our take on Hellforge: Demon Protocol
Reviewed by the LetsPlayFree editors ·
Hellforge: Demon Protocol is a side-scrolling run-and-gun with 20 industrial missions. Enemy types include patrol soldiers, shield troops, gatling brutes, mech hounds and berserkers, and you must get through 16 kinds of traps while looking for hidden pickups. Ten animated bosses return later as tougher elite enemies, which adds a feeling of escalation.
You collect six weapons, armor, grenades and shields, and can jump, double jump, dodge and reload. Aiming is done with the mouse, and touch controls appear on mobile devices. The description also mentions checkpoints, which makes long missions more forgiving. It is a game for players who want a full run-and-gun campaign rather than a quick arcade game.
Checkpoints and a large set of weapons keep the campaign fair, while the elite versions of earlier bosses reward players who remember their patterns. Mastering the dodge and shield makes long missions easier.
